Bilateral visit between the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom and the Cour de cassation

In early October, Justices of the UK Supreme Court took part in an exchange with the Cour de cassation. The meeting coincided with the Opening of the Legal Year.
The UK delegation comprised:
- The Right Hon The Lord Reed of Allermuir, President of the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom
- The Right Hon Lord Hodge, Deputy President of the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom
- The Right Hon Lord Hamblen of Kersey, Justice of the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom
- The Right Hon Lord Stephens of Creevyloughgare, Justice of the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom
- Ms. Vicky Fox, Chief Executive Officer of the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom
The French delegation comprised:
- M. Christophe Soulard, First President of the Cour de cassation
- Mme. Sandrine Zientara-Logeay, President, Director of the Documentation, Studies and Reports Department
- M. Edouard Rottier, Judge, Open Data Project Director
- Mme. Clémence Bourillon, Judge, Head of the International Relations Department
- Mme. Estelle Cros, Liaison Judge, French Embassy in London
Both delegations attended the Opening of the Legal Year ceremony at Westminster Abbey followed by the Lord Chancellor's Breakfast.
Members of the Cour de cassation then met with Court officials to discuss the publication of judgments, the Court's outreach and communications strategy, and court processes.
The following day, Lord Reed and First President Soulard led the first roundtable discussion on Judicial Transparency and Outreach. This was followed by a roundtable on Digitisation and Technology in Courts led by Lord Hodge and President Zientara-Logeay.
