Tribute for Lord Kerr
Lord Reed pays tribute to Lord Kerr on behalf of all at the Supreme Court
30 September 2020
Lord Kerr of Tonaghmore retired as a Supreme Court Justice on 30 September 2020.
Lord Kerr was appointed to the Supreme Court in October 2009. He was the last Lord Of Appeal in Ordinary, appointed in the House of Lords, before the creation of the Supreme Court. Since that time, he has given countless important judgments and made an enormous contribution to the Court's work.
Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, it has not been possible to hold a valedictory ceremony for Lord Kerr, as we would normally do for a retiring judge. Instead, the President of the Supreme Court, Lord Reed, has made a short video to pay tribute to his work and to say a fond farewell to him on behalf of everyone at the Supreme Court.
