Virtual exchange between the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom and the High Court of Australia

This month, Justices of the UK Supreme Court took part in a virtual exchange with the High Court of Australia. This is part of a series of virtual bilateral meetings with judicial colleagues, globally. Roundtable discussions were led by Justices from each delegation on different topics, including the structures and procedures in each court.
The UK delegation comprised:

- The Rt Hon Lord Burrows, Justice of the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom
- The Rt Hon Lord Richards of Camberwell, Justice of the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom
The Australia delegation comprised:
- The Hon Chief Justice Susan Kiefel AC, Chief Justice of the High Court of Australia
- The Hon Justice Stephen Gageler AC, Justice of the High Court of Australia
- The Hon Justice Michelle Gordon AC, Justice of the High Court of Australia

Lord Reed, President of the UK Supreme Court, said of the exchange, “I am pleased that we are now able to use technology to hold discussions with one of our most important sister courts in the common law world. The presentations and discussions were interesting and valuable, and we look forward to strengthening further the relationship of our two courts”.
